Our Materials, Process & Toy Safety
Tiny Riots toys are handmade by us in Western Australia using reclaimed native WA hardwoods and other carefully selected hardwoods.
Handmade and Naturally Unique
Natural timber is full of variation, especially reclaimed wood. Grain, colour, texture and markings will differ between pieces, meaning your toy may look slightly different from the images shown.
Small knots, filled areas, tool marks and minor imperfections may be present. These do not affect the toy’s use or safety and are not considered faults—they are part of the character of handmade, reclaimed timber.
Toy Safety
Our wooden toys are recommended for children aged 3 years and over and should be used under adult supervision.
We carefully design, make and inspect our toys with the applicable Australian toy safety requirements in mind, including AS/NZS ISO 8124.1 for mechanical and physical safety.
Please inspect your toy before each use. Discontinue use if it becomes cracked, broken, splintered or otherwise damaged. Our toys are intended for imaginative play and must not be used for climbing, standing or weight-bearing play.
Our Timber Finish
Our wooden toys are finished with Fiddes Ultra Raw Hard Wax Oil, a protective blend of natural oils and waxes.
The finish is certified as suitable for use on children’s toys under the EN 71 Toy Safety standard and is food-safe once fully dry. It protects the timber while keeping its natural appearance and minimising the darker “wet look” caused by many traditional wood oils.
Caring for Your Toy
Wipe clean using a slightly damp cloth and allow it to dry completely.
Do not soak, submerge or place wooden toys in a dishwasher. Avoid harsh cleaners, disinfectants and alcohol-based products. Store indoors in a cool, dry place away from excessive heat and direct sunlight.
